AURALUMEN — SENSORY LANDSCAPE

AuraLumen is a modern Taiwanese craft incense brand bridging Song-dynasty literary wabi-sabi aesthetics with contemporary urban lifestyle. Designed for a 1-week Cultural Expo under a pragmatic NT$ 200,000–300,000 budget and strict zero-open-flame fire regulations, the spatial objective was to create an intimate, multi-sensory oasis within an active trade hall through precision modular engineering.

The spatial strategy focused on three core engineering pillars:

• Ground-Supported Modular Framework: 40×40mm / 50×50mm matte black powder-coated steel square posts anchored directly to the dark grey floor, structurally integrated with natural pine plywood partition walls to rigidly support the overhead grid canopy without any ceiling rigging/suspension.
• Cloud Mesh Light Canopy & Eye-Level Washi Scrolls: Hand-sculpted silver aluminum expanded wire mesh cloud installation overhead simulating rising incense smoke, paired with suspended U-shaped translucent washi paper scrolls glowing at eye-level with warm amber/sunset gradients (3000K) and vertical Chinese scent descriptions.
• Unlit Olfactory Experience & Spatial Scrims: Compliant no-flame scent exploration utilizing crystal-clear glass cloches and rustic black ceramic tasting dishes containing raw herbal ingredients and unlit craft incense sticks, zoned by semi-translucent raw linen partition draperies that guide visitor flow from open discovery to quiet contemplation.

Branding Detail: Pragmatic 3D matte camel-beige acrylic dimensional lettering ("AuraLumen") affixed to the raw timber feature wall and display counter fascias with subtle pin-spot illumination.
