The Spatial Strategy

TPE CYCLE EX demanded more than a standard exhibition stand — it required a spatial system capable of serving two completely different brand contexts within a single continuous footprint. The event grounds attracted both hardcore competitive cyclists and lifestyle consumers, and the brand needed to speak to both audiences without diluting either experience.

As Spatial Director and Brand Activation Lead, my responsibilities covered the full pipeline — from initial floor plan strategy and material specification through to on-site contractor coordination and final safety compliance sign-off:

  • Strategic Brief Phase: Developing the dual-zone spatial concept, performing traffic flow analysis for 3,000+ daily visitors, and defining the material language that would signal tonal shifts without physical barriers.
  • Technical Execution Phase: Directing the 72-hour assembly of weatherproof freestanding structures, managing multi-trade staggering across carpentry, electrical, graphics, and logistics, and verifying egress lane compliance against venue safety codes.

The result was a pavilion that became one of the event's most-photographed brand installations — achieving a product dwell time of 8.5 minutes in the retail zone, 3× the outdoor cycling event industry benchmark.

Dual-Zone Gradient Matrix

The pavilion was divided into two tonal zones through material language alone. Zone A (Performance): industrial grating, tensioned sport netting, high-contrast brand graphics. Zone B (Retail): warm timber slatting, matte powder-coat fixtures, curated product lighting. A single permeable canopy unified both without physical barriers.
